Out of the mouth of babes...Chinatown and salami
March 7, 2011: The kids have been learning about different cultures and families. The parents (and aunty) were invited to watch a program and eat different cultural foods. I was very impressed when he told me this morning that he could speak Chinese, Japanese, German, and Hawaiian. That was until I realized he was getting speaking and nationality mixed up!
March 11, 2011: Spending the day with a so starving child who's hungry as a lion and tiger. His ancestors came from Chinatown where his surname is from. He came from Chinatown, because you used to live where your surname comes from, according to him. His mommy used to live in China and came over here on the boat and was pregnant with 5 children for 20 years. Every so often he turns to the Japanese channel to watch the salami make the water flood the houses and cars in Japan with the fire in the middle. Good laughs!

Kavin's Multi Cultural Day
Kavin's class celebrated a Multi Cultural Day at Maemae School. The kids put on a program followed by a cultural tasting feast. I promised Kavin that I would video tape him, so his mommy could see what a great job he did.

Out of the mouth of babes...Kamehameha Schools Testing
Me (to Kavin): So, on Saturday, you're going to go up to the big school to meet with the aunty about kindergarten.
Kavin *eyes rolling*: Aunty, I'm going for testing.
Mary: And when you go...
Kavin: I know. I'm going to introduce myself and ask them if they want me to show them what I know.
...Smart alack kid.
