Shirlene teaches Kindergarten at August Ahrens Elementary, but will be teaching 1st grade next year. She has previously served on mission teams to Brazil and Japan and traveled before to Canada, Mexico, Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Chicago, San Antonio, Portland, Seattle, all the major Hawaiian islands, Tahoe, Reno, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
She likes to sail, hike, camp, hang out anywhere in God's creation but especially the beach, read, do puzzles, ride roller coasters with BIG drops! Everyone knows what an outdoors person she is and eventually is a part of a hiking trip, camping trip, or sailing adventure. Food that she likes include ice cream, peanut butter, chocolate chip cookies with nuts, or any kind of chocolate with nuts.
Things she would like to do soon... sail to Molokai, go skiing-think I'm getting too old to try snowboarding :-)
Shirlene is married to Ryan and has two daughters, Shae and Brooke.
*Interesting note: Shirlene is one of three Youth Ministry Team leaders that also has teen children in our youth ministry.
